A new premium whisky, Highgrove Evergreen, will be released from the Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, owned by King Charles III. The single malt is made from Plumage Archer barley that was grown in the royal gardens of the estate, which King Charles purchased in 1980.
The bottling is the result of a collaboration between the Highgrove estate and the Cotswolds Distillery. According to the estate’s statement, the whisky undergoes a bespoke combined maturation in bourbon and red-wine casks. The distillers describe the finished spirit as rich and refined, with tasting notes of orchard fruit, honey, barley, and subtle hints of red berries and spices.
Highgrove Evergreen is offered in a specially illustrated gift box that features a painting by King Charles himself. Priced at £100 per bottle, it is already available for pre-order and is scheduled to go on sale on 4 December. (Reported by The National; source: APE-MPE.)
