Storm "Adel" is currently affecting northern Evia with heavy rain, thunderstorms and localized hail. In the village of Galatsades in the Municipality of Istiaia–Aidipsos, a sudden, intense hailstorm literally turned the area white, covering yards and streets in large quantities of hail, according to reports on evima.gr.
Eyewitness video shows rapid accumulation of hail that, combined with continuous heavy rain, produced standing water and drainage difficulties. Residents described the phenomenon as sudden and very intense. The storms have also produced intermittent wind gusts, increasing the danger.
Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel because slippery roads and reduced visibility may cause problems. The Civil Protection service is on alert, monitoring the weather’s development and emphasizing the need for public caution. The bad weather is expected to continue for the next few hours, with local effects mainly over northern and central Evia.
