The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) recalls a batch of "Myzithra Nopi — ABIGAL" (400g and 1.6kg) produced 15/11/25, due to detection of staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEA–SEE); consumers must not consume it.

EFET recalls batch of fresh myzithra

The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET), through its Regional Directorate of Western Greece, has recalled from the market a batch of fresh myzithra cheese sold as “Myzithra Nopi — ABIGAL.”

  • Producer/packer: ABIGAL S.A. — Achaiki Dairy Industry (ΑΒΙΓΑΛ ΑΕ — ΑΧΑΪΚΗ ΒΙΟΜΗΧΑΝΙΑ ΓΑΛΑΚΤΟΣ — ΕΜΠΟΡΙΑ ΕΙΔΩΝ ΣΟΥΠΕΡ ΜΑΡΚΕΤ — ΑΦΟΙ ΑΘ. ΠΑΝΤΕΛΗ & ΣΙΑ ΑΕ)

  • Sampled packaging: 400 g (the recall also covers 1.6 kg packages of the same batch)

  • Production date: 15/11/25

  • Best-before/consume-by date: 05/12/25

The sampling was carried out within the framework of the “Official Control for the Monitoring of Microbiological Criteria of Food Safety” program. Laboratory examination by the Food Hygiene Department of the Veterinary Centre Directorate of Athens (Ministry of Rural Development and Food, ΥΠΑΑΤ) detected the presence of staphylococcal enterotoxins types SEA through SEE.

EFET has demanded the immediate recall of the entire specified batch (both 400 g and 1.6 kg packages) and relevant checks are ongoing. Consumers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it.
